I am so excited. My daughter asked me to make a Christmas dress for my new step-granddaughter, Autumn. No picture yet, but Autumn is a beautiful little red-head with big brown eyes and fair skin. She is 5 years old. I have the fabric, a slightly toned-down emerald green crushed velvet. I have creamy satin as a second fabric along with laces in various sizes and creamy pearl trim. But I have three different patterns (2 with multiple views) and can't decide which one to make. Here they are:
I would like to start the dress right away. I could really use some feedback!

That's too many choices for my brain too! That third one looks very grown up (which might appeal to a 5-year-old!) but I also think view #3 on the first pattern looks very Christmassey. Have you asked your daughter? I'm sure whatever you make will be adorable and Autumn will think you're the best grandma ever for making her such a great dress!
ReplyDeleteI like #1 in the first pattern, and the thrird pattern is great...simple lines and twirly;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing!!
I like the third pattern. It's bit more elegant than frilly, which seems nice for Christmas to me.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, what an honour. I like the third pattern, also.

What a lucky step-grand to have someone to sew for her. I'm partial to view 1 in the first pattern, or view 2 and 4 in the 2nd pattern. Pattern 3 is lovely, but strikes me as a bit grown up for a five year old. I'm not sure all our differing tastes are helping you narrow down your choices! Whichever you decide it will be very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI like the third dress. Any of them will be adorable.
