THE CHRISTMAS DRESS - Finale

Sorry to have been so long with this picture.  I never got to see Autumn wearing it.  Last minute plan changes on Christmas Eve.  She and Dylan were not even at our family gathering.  It made me sad.  However, my daughter did take this picture.

Isn't that a crazy look on her face?  That is her "smile and let me take your picture face", LOL.  Anyway, she love the dress and I am so looking forward to making more - both for her and Mara.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and compliments on the WIP posts.  They so inspire me and give me incentive to finish just so I can show them to you.  Now to answer some questions on some previous posts.

To Love:

Much as I would like to have a great big 6 foot, muscley guy as a Muse, such is not my luck.  My Muse is a 4 foot 5 inch female bundle of energy.  I've nicknamed her Flit 'cause that is exactly what she does - flits from one idea to another.  She drives me crazy sometimes, especially when she goes off on a tangent in the middle of a project.  And she's done it to me, again!  The Pinwheel Party quilt top is almost complete!

Yes, the blue embroideries for the Delectable Diamonds are done on hankies!  Some already had a blue border and the others are just those lovely all cotton men's hankerchiefs.  I found a couple packages of brand new ones at the flea market.

And, yes, the next picture is the Blue Tie quilt.  Each individual diamond is backed with lightweight iron on interfacing.  Nine units join together for a larger diamond unit.  Once I have all the large units done, then I will play with the layout.  This is taking a lot longer than I expected, but I think the results will be worth it.  Sure hope my son will like it!

I have no idea why the Rita's Water Ice is turning out so big.  I am following the instructions to the letter.  It looks as if this quilt will be for a queen size bed.  So much the better!

To All:

I will do a tutorial on the angled border just as soon as I have a quilt that requires one.  I still owe you a tutorial on sandwiching and basting quilts that DOES NOT require you to crawl around on the floor.

I am so glad you enjoyed the tutorial on the Christmas Dress!  I wasn't sure how that would work, but it seems it did.  You have granted me the highest compliment a person could wish for - "You make it look easy."  When my kids were growing up I used to tell them "If you want to learn something really well, ask someone who makes it look easy!"  I thank the Marx brothers for that bit of insight.  Did you ever see them play a musical instrument?  'Nuff said.

OK, Flit is bugging me to finish the Pinwheel Party.  I am hoping this will calm her enough to let me get something else done.  I still need to take the pictures for the Train quilt, LOL.

Love from Liri
