IT'S JUST TOO HOT...

to do much of anything except veg in the house, unless I go to work.  The heat just drags me out and eats up my energy.  Too hot to work outside, too hot to do any housework except what has to be done, too hot to cook.  Guess you can tell I am not a summer person, right?  But having always gotten a good check mark for "makes good use of spare time", here are my latest finishes:

First up, here are the two latest Snowbound blocks:

Hope the colors came out OK.  My husbands screen has a yellow cast to it.

Here is a new BOM called "Under the Sea".  I have four of the blocks finished and two more almost completed.  I am trying to match colors and plants and things like that up between the blocks.  Details are most important.  Here are the first four blocks:

Sorry they are all wrinkly.  I really need to wash and block them, but I want to do them all at once in case the colors change.  If you are interested, I have a link to the series on my sidebar and they are still available for download.

I am pleased to report that I have only 3 more train blocks to complete, well more like 2-3/4's.  Then I can wash and block those and start playing with a layout.  Would you all like to help me design this one? (Well, at least the parts that have not designed themselves yet, LOL!)  I can photograph each embroidery and the fabrics I am playing with and either publish them here or email them to you.  I think that would be a lot of fun!  Let me know.

  1. Liri your blocks are gorgeous!! I love what you did with the Snowbound blocks and the extra bling you added. The Under the Sea blocks also look wonderful. I can't wait to see the train. It would be lots of fun to help you with the layout. I'm new to embroidery- what is blocking? Great work! :) Christine

  2. It's nice to know that someone else is not a summer person. It's also hot and 90's and humid here. I hate it. Yesterday, my DH and I went early 9AM to a check out a French Country Market that's held once a month in the summer. I have been thinking about selling some of the stuff that I make and everyone tells me I should sell them and not give them away. We were probably there 1 1/2hr. We were both soaked. The heat does me in and I ended up taking a 2 hour nap.
Anyway, I haven't embrodiered in years. I see your work and you inspire me. I did pick up some cross stitch the other day as my sewing room (loft) gets very warm this time of year. The air doesn't seem to get up that high. The snowmen are adorable and I really like the underwater charaters. Try and stay cool. Connie

  3. See - because of the heat you are working on snow and water blocks. They are mentally cooling you off. I have been collecting the Under the Sea patterns but haven't started them yet. Great work.

  4. I love your blocks - they are all adorable! I don't like hot weather either. It will be in the 80's here in Prineville, OR today. Except for the heat, I'm looking forward to going home in another week. I dread the 100 degree heat.

  7. Love your stitching especially the extra beading. Those underwater critters are very cute too.

  8. All that great embroidery is calling out to me to try it again. I have a few Sunbonnet Sue blocks embroidered, but not nearly as nice as yours, so I lost interest! I used to take it to work on while waiting at the doctor's office with family members. Can't wait to see how you put yours together. All of them are beautiful! ---"Love"
