Missed last weeks post. I was trying to figure out the best way to transfer pictures from my hubby's computer to mine-without losing any of them! In any case, here is what I finished before I started working on Christmas!
Around this time last year, I went and bought a whole new wardrobe in anticipation of being hired to the new job (it will be a year the end of February, Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-57305067885024086252013-01-13T19:33:00.000-05:002013-01-13T19:33:37.687-05:00SOME (BELATED) THANK YOU'S!
Hi All,
In keeping with my resolve to post at least once a week, this time I would like to offer some (very) belated thank you's.
About two years ago, Joann asked me to help her daughter, Laura, with a "Flat Stanley" school project. For those of you who haven't heard about "Flat Stanley", it is a little paper person drawn and colored by the student and sent to spend a week with Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-72684807126685453962013-01-06T19:41:00.000-05:002013-01-06T19:41:43.050-05:00SNARLEDHello all,
Tried to write a new post but blogger is not behaving. Seems I can't upload new pictures from a file on my computer but it will let me post pictures already uploaded to the blog. Until I can figure it out, I am going to concentrate on filling up my new pages.
That being said, I've uploaded a number of pictures of completed quilts. Hope you enjoy them. Hello all my blogging buddies! Hope the New Year finds you and yours happy and healthy and with ENOUGH. Enough food, enough sleep, enough love! I think you get the picture. Wouldn't life be so much simpler if everybody was happy with enough?
So, a new year and a new start, hopefully. As you can see, I have been working on the blog just a bit. Changed the Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-84474729957810602442012-09-09T08:38:00.000-04:002013-01-01T15:19:20.013-05:00I MET RUTH!
Hi, Everyone! I have to tell you that I met the sweetest person last Saturday. Ruth of Country Log Cabin. She and her husband, DH (and yes, that's what I call/ed him) were traveling up the New Jersey turnpike on their way to visit family in New York. With a little juggling, we agreed to meet at the James Fenimore Cooper rest stop on the Jersey turnpike. I was so Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-35266544943177164572012-07-29T08:36:00.000-04:002012-07-29T08:36:54.279-04:00Back Again!Hello! Lovely to see you again! Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and warm welcome back. I must confess though, that I am much like Ruth. Four AM seems to be wake up time for me. The eyes just pop open, LOL! And, like Ruth, I am also ready for bed around 9:00 PM. I think it may have something to do with the season and body rhythms. Things have been a little tough since going back to work. The adjustment has been a bit difficult because as much as I already knew what I was doing, I did not anticipate all the writing. This company wants everything put down on paper and it has been exhausting. Sometimes, once I get home, all I can manage is dinner. All the summer Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-62787241270175005492012-03-01T15:16:00.000-05:002012-03-01T15:16:03.550-05:00HAPPY SNOOPY DANCE!I'm doing the Happy Snoopy Dance because it finally happened! As of February 27, 2012, I became a full-time employee of ARAMARK (yes, that's how they spell it all the time)! I am still doing the same work I did as a temp but with all the benefits and compensations of full-time employment. I still love the job and the people and they still love me!

I know this is a late post but better late than never, LOL! My progress so far:
Rita's Water Ice is quilted. I have to trim and bind. I have some white-on-white fabric but I am vascillating between binding the quilt or doing the shams. I don't have enough fabric to do both and need to make a run to JoAnnes. Finishing the quilt may take priority. 1. Patriotic Denim
The middle has been done for awhile, but I have been struggling with the borders. Here it is on my design wall:
I have two more border units to make because I took two out to use in the shams. The shams have not yet been started. This will not be quilted with batting due to weight.&Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-52334776687009344282012-01-03T19:14:00.000-05:002012-01-03T19:14:16.233-05:002011 FINISHESIt seems everyone is showing a list of finishes for 2011 so I figured I would join in and bring you up-to-date on what was finished during my blogging absence.
Finished Quilts
Koala Redwork – Quilted, sham finished and delivered to My Dear Luis’ little boy. He didn’t seem to be impressed, but Mom and Dad loved it. May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you. Bet you thought I dropped off the face of the earth, huh? For a while there, so did I. After I finished the quilt sandwich tutorial, I sort of lost my quilting mojo. Felt like I was out in limbo somewhere. The desire was there but the motivation was missing. I think Flit took off , too! She probably couldn’t stand me. She's back now and I missed her!
In June, I re-signed with the Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-50636924635601984652011-06-13T20:07:00.000-04:002011-06-13T20:07:35.769-04:00SANDWICH, ANYONE? - PART TWOYou are halfway there. Your backing and batting are now all one piece. Ready to finish basting your quilt sandwich? Here we go!
Now that you have finished basting the backing and batting, turn the entire piece over so the batting is on top. Roll/fold the piece up from the bottom just as you did when we started. See the basting rows?
Unroll the basted pieces on the Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-51987522576218984052011-06-12T20:22:00.000-04:002011-06-12T20:22:46.203-04:00SANDWICH, ANYONE? - PART ONEA long time ago, I promised a tutorial for basting a quilt sandwich that does not involve straight pins, safety pins or crawling around on the floor (so hard on the knees)! This method is based, roughly, on Sharon Schambers method but minus the big boards. (I searched for the video, but couldn't find it, sorry!) I couldn't figure out where to get boards big enough or whereLiriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-32136337294958707362011-06-04T10:11:00.000-04:002011-06-04T10:11:59.480-04:00YOUR THOUGHTS, PLEASE!Here is a piece of what was supposed to be a quilt top that I picked up at a flea market.
It is about the size of a baby quilt. As you can see from the next two pictures, it was not very accurately cut nor very well put together. It just will not lie flat!
Some of the blocks were machine pieced and some where hand pieced.
Do you think it is worth saving? Should I Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-65741824366127209252011-05-31T07:06:00.000-04:002011-05-31T07:06:30.675-04:00MOST ANNOYING BARBIE IN THE WORLD FASHION SHOWOK, I promised this to you. Along with all the other finishes I posted yesterday, the biggest finish was these Barbie clothes. I cut these out when my daughter, Jessica, was into Barbie's when she was around 7 or 8 years old. She's 24 now, you do the math, LOL. I don't know if you remember, but I've dubbed this Barbie the MOST ANNOYING BARBIE IN THE WORLD because she talksLiriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-33053457328228772332011-05-30T10:13:00.000-04:002011-05-30T10:13:12.784-04:00FRETTINGYes, I have been fretting! Me, who never frets about anything, LOL! About? Well, let me give you an idea. You know that closet you have been meaning to clean out but keep putting off for one reason or another? And everytime you open it you think to yourself, "I really have to clean this out!". But you don't, so it stays in your head and becomes a monster? A year or so ago (maybe even two) while checking out a second hand shop that I visit about once a month, I found a big plastic bag of what I thought was fabric. Blue and yellow, one of my favorite combos at that, and at a ridiculously low price! Well, of course, you know me well enough by now to know Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-32940625188353549192011-05-04T09:12:00.000-04:002011-05-04T09:12:25.495-04:00A WALK ON THE WILD SIDEIt's been awhile since my last post. Been walkin' a bit on the wild side. Lots of stuff going on in my life. My oldest son is graduating with an Associates degree on May 13. My daughter is starting Dental Assistant school on May 31, even with 5 children. My middle son has just escaped a major layoff due to sale of the company he works for. Need I say more? I thought you might like to see what I've been working on and I threw in some finishes, too.
Do you remember the scrap quilt units I've been working on - Fabric Frolic? Well, here is the center of the Queen size.
It's all sewn together but needs three more borders. I had put it away so I didn't "lose" it. Do you do that?
Doesn't look like much, does it? I found this at a flea market many years ago and figured I would use the good parts in a project. I thought it had been machine stitched. I found it again a few years ago and finally took a really good look at it.&Liriopiahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18361249087231859353noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5265909716577820507.post-22021793485968803462011-04-04T08:07:00.000-04:002011-04-04T08:07:32.990-04:00EASTER DRESSESWell, the Easter dresses for Autumn, Mara and Kayla are finished and delivered. My daughter came down to visit her friend on Sunday and I took the dresses over. They loved them and promised me pictures on Easter. Kayla was not feeling well yesterday and Mara was really fussy. We just made sure the dresses fit. You've seen Autumn's dress:

All the pinwheels are done. I have to cut the white strips for the border and then sew everything together. Here it is on my design wall.
The Easter dresses are coming along nicely. Here is Mara's dress and panties.
And the beginnings of the pinafore.

Here is what came home with me today.
This adorable little pattern for little girls dresses. I love this pattern because they made it so versatile. Six versions are shown on the cover and there are 9 more inside. I may not need another pattern until they outgrow size 6X!
